Betting the Company covers issues of significance for high-stakes business disputes, broadly focusing on intellectual property, antitrust, corporate, securities, litigation funding, and other complex matters. I hope the blog becomes a resource for entrepreneurial GCs and litigators interested in effective litigation strategy and staying apprised of important legal developments.
About the Author: Navid Bayar represents plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes commercial matters in courts throughout the country. As a former Silicon Valley deal lawyer, he knows what drives (and resolves) significant commercial disputes, having helped secure nearly $900 million in jury verdicts and settlements.
He has experience with all aspects of litigation, including examining witnesses before juries, taking and defending depositions, and successfully drafting and arguing motions in state and federal court. He has handled disputes involving complex patented technologies, financial institutions, insurance agreements, start-ups, joint ventures, and cryptocurrencies. He works tireless to ensure his clients receive better results than they would with any other lawyer.
Navid is graduate of UC Berkeley and Duke Law School. He clerked for two federal judges, first for the former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, and later for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He started his career as a transactional attorney at one of the Bay Area’s premier law firms representing technology companies in IPOs, M&A transactions, and private securities offerings, among other transactions.
